Help needed for sound V+ box

I Have a >LG 42LC2DB TV> LG LH-T550TB DVD PLAYER with surround sound, so the sound works with DVD/Radio/ CD or analogue TV but not with my V+ box set to HD Channels, connections as follows V+ box HDMI to TV HDMI for HD channels. Then Scart to AV1 and terestial ariel for TV analogue, then Scart to AV2 from DVD player.
Baffled? [gawd getting polite in my old age]

Nissed as a pewt Aye V+ box is a HD box supplied and fitted by Virgin media it replaced my old set top box.

What about Muckshifter or one of the other Techo's here.
I'm about as useful as a drunk in a brewery at the moment, sorry
But it's better i tell you then try to bodge it!
