Recently Ive noticed that even when im not touching the mouse, any boxes i
have on the screen start to scroll down by themselves. Also when i click on a
minimised programme on the task bar and then move the mouse towards the
restored box it minimises again! Its driving me absolutely bonkers. Ive tried
cleaning the mouse and restoring the system but me being the technophob that
i am i dont know what else to do. Could anyone provide me with an answer
before i end up smashing this thing up!lol

Thanx, Gem

Have you scanned for viruses, worms, trojans, adware, spyware and other
malware? Is the system doing other strange things? It is possible for
someone to plant a file on your hard drive that can allow them to do
anything they want on your system. Check for infections.

Im not actually sure how to go about scanning for viruses. Im have very basic
knowledge of computers as you can probably tell. Last night i was trying to
write an essay and it got so bad that i unplugged the mouse which is plugged
into my keyboard. This stopped all the strange goings on...so im thinking
this may be the problem but i dont want to have to unplug my mouse everytime
it starts going wacky. I dont suppose you know why this would happen?

Don't nplug the mouse with the system running, it can damage the PS/2 port if
it is a PS/2 mouse. If it is USB, that is a different story. Try looking to
the mouse manufacturer for the most recent driver. Is it possible to connect
the mose directly to the system, not the keyboard? I would try that also. Do
it when the system is shutdown, not running. What brand of keyboard and mouse
do you have? Check for any additional drivers for the keyboard also. What OS
are you using? I have run across the problem on a laptop, but never on a
tower system.
