HELP ME!

Ok here's the problem. I have a custom built computer.
It's worked perfect up until this point. I have two cd-
rom drives, one dvd drive and one sony cd burner drive.
Now when I go to 'My Computer', the dvd drive only
appears and the cd burner drive icon isn't there. It's
almost as if the computer doesn't recognize it's there.
This is a problem when it comes to cd burning or running
a cd. I'm 100% sure it's a software problem, not a
technical problem. Please help me!

I just fixed a pc with the same problem. It was a bad IDE cable. Last
week I fixed the same problem also, it was a bad drive. The week before
that it was a bad power cable.

Today went to a marina. Nice rotton fishy smell. XP PC was rebooting
randomly. PC was in the bait shop on the dock and was getting lots of
waves due to the hurricane aftermath. The power cable to the pc in back
was loose as heck. Easy money.
