hi,

I'm quite a long time trying to get windows XP embedded installed on a PC104
board. But it's difficult, I don't get it working. I finally get my image
ok, I think.

But when I connect my image to my device, it says "no boot device available,
press enter to continue", when I press enter, he gives me a fault, in Dutch
now, so he really looks at the disk because my image is in Dutch.

In the BIOS I see the disk and she works fine.

what am I doing wrong?

Did you make your HD bootable?

Heb je de hard disk bootable gemaakt? Je kan hiervoor bootprep gebruiken.

well, I didn't use bootprep.exe because I use NTFS, so it's not needed I
think,

how can I make the disk bootable else?

Yep, I get the 7b error

but I have a problem with it. They suppose to run tap instead of ta, but for
tap you need windows 2k or XP. My problem is, that the flashdisk delivered
for my device is only 120 Mb, so that's too small to install 2k or XP.

I have no idea which component I should add manually to solve the problem,
anybody knows?

Dries,

Although it's not quite as good as the XP Pro installation you can run tap
from the XP Embedded SP1 Disk 1. It's a bootable CD that will boot to
Windows PE. Run tap from inside this and transfer resulting PMQ to either
floppy, or network, etc... This should successfully pull in the devices that
you are missing causing the 7B.

If I try to boot from XPe SP1 disk 1, it first says "setup is inspecting
your computer's hardware" but a few seconds later, it says "INF file
txtsetup.sif if corrupt or missing, status 14. Setup cannot continue. Press
any key to exit"

I tried a few CD's but they give the same error

Dries,

That's odd. Are you using SP1 that was downloaded? That's the only thing I
can think of that would be problematic.

I think I'm gonna try to install a regular Windows XP on another disk an try
to run tap.exe

I don't even succeed in installing a normal XP or 2000, I start thinking
there's something wrong with the IDE controller

I'm getting sick of it :s

Since you said that you have seen 7b error then you hardware is working
perfectly.
Add (probably all this components are not requires, but since they wont eat
you too much space then add them all):
All three disk drive components.
Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller
Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
Secondary IDE Channel
Primary IDE Channel
PCI standard RAM Controller
PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
PCI standard ISA bridge
PCI standard host CPU bridge
PCI standard EISA bridge
PCI bus
Partition Manager
NTFS
Mount Manager
FAT
Disk Management Dynamic Volume Runtime
Disk Management Basic Volume Runtime

PnP (User-mode)
PnP (Kernel-mode)
Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator

Have fun,
Slobodan

I don't find Partition manager, Mount manager and PnP (Kernel Mode), I added
the rest of the components

Is it normal that I don't find those 3 components?
