Help me if you can! I can't boot into XP

Wally

This morning, after three hours sleep, I decided to install Win98 onto my
system. Separate hard drive, C: (20 GB), with WinXP preexisting on D:\ (40
GB)

I changed my boot sequence to Floopy/HD0/HD1 to load Win98.

So I did the deed, and Win98 worked fine. BUT!! when I tried to boot back to
XP there was no going there.

I tried repair (lots of options like to repair I am asked to reformat D: ~~~
NO WAY). I tried to use the commands in the DOS-like help to manipulate the
files, but the system prevents me from moving or copying any files from D:
to C:

So does anyone out there have any clue how I can get back into XP.

My sequence on boot now is: HD1/HD0/Floopy. HD1 is drive D: (WinXP).

Thanks in advance.

I did Jack, and it did not help anything. So, in looking for answers, I
reloaded it since it does provide a means of communication.

Thanks for the help,

How were you getting into XP before? A boot manager or just the XP boot
files on C:? If a boot manager - which one? What repair options does it
offer for picking up one of the operating systems it's managing?

If no boot manager - when you installed 98 to C:, it removed the XP boot
files. If you have a retail XP CD, you could use Recovery Console to fix
the boot configuration. See the BOOTCFG section of this article:
