HELP! Lost all sound and websites are locking up!

My computer was just fine, and then out of nowhere, for no reason I can't
play my music or video files. When I try, I get a red X next to the file
name, and when I check for web help, it suggests there may be something
wrong with my sound devices.

Also, I notice some web sites are very slow. I click to scroll down, and it
delays like 30 seconds each time. And MySpace is the worst ... it completely
locks up on MySpace profiles. I have to force close IE7.

I checked my device manager and my sound devices look fine. No problems
there. But there is one thing in my Portable Devices - a "Compact Flash" ...
I have no idea what that is ... and it has an exclamation point on it. It
says it's not working properly and it says it goes to Microsoft WPD
FileSystem Volume.

That's the only problem I can see, and I think it means "disk drive" volume
.... not "sound" volume. (I think).

I don't know what else to look for. Everything I see looks fine, but nothing
is working.

Can anyone help me?!

The best thing would be to do a system restore to the most recent date when
you didn't have any problems.

I did that, and it didn't help. I've been spending the evening removing all
the updates that have been installed in the last week or 2, trying to find
the problem. So far ... nothing.

Normally when you do a system restore, it should remove all of the updates /
changes that were made to your system after the restore date and therefore
you shoudn't have to remove the updates manually. Have you tried various
restore dates ?
