Help!!! Local Policy Lockout

G

Guest

We have an XP pro sp2 pc that has had the local policies altered so no one
can get into the system and the local administrator account has been
disabled. I can log on through network admin account, however, unable to
make any changes. Willing to do a complete wipe and reload, however, would
like to retrieve documents, email and addresses first. Any suggestions on
how to reconfigure the policies or save the data?

It is an easy matter to get the data. All you have to do is mount the drive
as a slave in another computer, and navigate to the folders you want.
Alternatively, you could boot with a Knoppix CD, and pull the data that way.

You can try to run "gpedit.msc". That is the local policy editor and it can
easily reverse those settings unless the policy on the machine is domain
level policy. If the machine is joined to domain, you could push down new
domain level policies (GPO) that will override the local ones or the current
settings. They would take effect during a reboot, and before logon.
