Help - line through display

I wonder if someone might help - after browsing using
internet explorer, and browsing on a particular blog,
there is now a line through the top third of the display -
one pixel long that does not disappear even after
rebooting and switching off the machine and restarting.

Does anyone know how this can be fixed?

You presumably have an LCD screen. One of your driver transistors has
failed, and you will either have to live with the problem or replace the
screen.

You can easily verify that the problem is unrelated to Win2000: Reboot your
machine and get into the BIOS setup. Is the line still there? If yes then
it's a hardware problem.
