HELP (Installing RC1, Build 5600 Failures)

Hey guys, I need some major help. I joined the Microsoft Customer Preview
Program when Beta 2 was released. I received my disk and installed it with no
problems over XP Media Center 2005.

I recently received RC1 in the mail... I have tried over 10 times to install
it (last night being the most frustrating). Sometimes when it installs, I get
a blue screen after the first restart when it is expanding files. The blue
screen happens at 21%... It goes "windows has been shutdown to prevent damage
to Memory_Management" or something like that. Other times, it skips that and
goes completely through the entire install... but when that happens.... It
gets to the point where the black screen and my mouse loads and it says the
build at the bottom right corner... then it restarts.... I left the system
running over night and all day when I was at school and when I got home... it
was still restarting.

I have tried everything.... system repair through the disk, safe mode, etc.

The upgrade advisor said my system is fine and system stats are as follows:
1GB of RAM, 85GB free/228 GB total Hard Drive, NVIDIA GeForce FX5200
Graphics Card with 128mb graphics memory.

What do i do? I would really appreciate a response soon. thanks for your
help in advance!!

Well, hopefully you do have a backup on another drive or CD/DVD media. If so,
I would suggest booting with the Vista RC1 disk, the you will want to select
"advanced" or "custom" I can't remember exactly the wording.

However you get to it, you want the screen where it allows you to choose a
drive to install to, then select the additional drive options near the bottom
and tell it to format the drive. (Data WILL be lost on that drive!)

Then, procede with the install of Vista and hopefully it will complete the
install.

Maybe installing RC1 over another Beta, which was over Media center; things
may have gotten too messed up by this point.

Just my thoughts, hope you have backups of important stuff.
Good luck.

You didn't read the instructions. You can not do a upgrade from beta 2 to
RC-1.
Do a clean install and enjoy it.
