Help installing raid drive

I have a Promise ATA 100 Raid controller with two 40GB
Barracuda HD in configured to 80GB. My master drive is a
20GB Barracuda with winxp running on this drive.


I would like to replace the 20GB drive with a Western
Digital 36GB 10,000 rpm SCSI drive.

When I disconnect the 20GB drive and install winxp on the
new wd drive, it installs fine but will not find the two
raid configured hard drives.


Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Hi Greg

When you begin the install of XP on the WD drive you will have been prompted
to Press F6 to specify third-party drivers.

Have your Promise Raid driver available on a floppy disk and press F6 at
this point. After a short time you will be asked to insert the disk and
then confirm which drivers to use.

The Raid array should then be visible during the rest of the install
process.

Greg - if the Barracuda's are IV's, and firmware 3.51 or earlier, they are
incompatible with RAID use. Sorry to rain on your parade, but you might
want to be aware of this limitation.
