in the dynamic link library WINSTA.dll. What can I do to

Check to see if it under add/remove programs in the control panel. If not
you will be unable to reinstall it.

Seem like we're just SOL. I mistakenly upgraded my XP Home
to Pro without knowing that it already had been installed
in another computer. I went song and dance with MS about
how to uninstall XP Pro because it won't let me activate
it (without a license fee, $199.00 worth). I still have 25
days to go on the grace period. After that I was told that
my OS will quit working. i guess XP Pro overrode the XP
Home. The Window folder in drive C does not distinguish
whether it's Home or Pro. I think MS just put a fast one
on this. I could purge the drive and start from the
scratch with my XP Home and lose all my files. Or I could
wait until the expiration of the grace period and see what
happens after the XP Pro quit working. Or (my initial
preference) I'll install a second drive, load it with the
Home XP, transfer my important files and then purge the
existing drive. what do you think?

Do a search on google with the key words "retail XP pro" without the
quotation marks. You can find some better prices than the $199 you state in
your post, but be careful not to purchase OEM versions [can't do upgrades
only clean installs] or unbelievable discounted prices.
You can also use the Files And Settings Transfer wizard to backup your
important settings, email, documents, multimedia, etc. off the XP CD or from
Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Files And Settings Transfer
wizard.
If you do purchase the retail pro upgrade, see the link below on changing a
CD key. If not see the F.A.S.T link.
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the address box
if using the web based newsgroup.
Change CD key.
