HELP I lost my storage volume

If anyone can help me out PLEASE,

I have two hard discs, Windows is drive D on SATA via an Abit Serillel adapter
and storage is drive C (IDE) which simply does not show in explorer. It shows in
the device manager which says "this device is working properly". And it shows
in system info displays that DMA is "OK". Both drives show at location 0 (0),
strangely enough.

Recently I had trouble with Firefox and a Windows original 3D screen saver both
of which would corrupt the *mechanics* of the D drive and crash the whole
machine, and many times a reset would not work, it stayed the same as not being
able to get back into Windows. So I did a repair install from the XP disc got it
woking good, then installed SP1 which totaly fouled it up, and I had lost my SP2
download (or i never had it). I can't find that anywhere on the MS website.
Anyone got the LINK to it???

Then I uninstalled SP1 and Windows is working properly as version 2002, after
using "Advanced Windows Care" software.... only the disc C does not show in
explorer, what can I do to get it back?

WinXP sp2 (not, 2002)
Abit IS7 / 865PE chipset mobo
Intel P4 2.60C/HT, Thermalright XP-90 cooler, 92MM 57 CFM Panaflo
1GB kingston PC3200 dual channel RAM with heat spreaders
ATI X800XL AGP, Thermalright V-1 cooler with two fans
Maxtor 80GB /8MB IDE, Abit Serillel SATA adapter to board
Maxtor 40GB /2MB IDE to board IDE
Coolmax CR-550B (550 watts, single 140MM fan)

much in TIA,

First you can check that if your C drive is really there and nothing bad is
happend. To do this:

Right Click My Computer - click Manage
On the Left Pane click Disk Management

see if your both hard disk drives are exist there with their partitions. If
yes, then you can also check for your data if it also really there by right
clicking on your C Drive and choose Properties. See the disk usage and free
space.

If you are lucky and everything is going right the way as i mentioned then
most possible cause is your drive is got hidden.

I will assist you further but first check out the above.

Thanks I was able to get it done, by reinstalling the infs for 865pe ich5. This was a
shot arduous, and the drive now shows as letter "F" now, was C.

Thanks again,
