My External Usb drive is working I can save music to it... but I cannot save
my word documents to it. I know I probably sound dumb but I cannot figure it
out. Can anyone help me please? I need to save my paper for class tomorrow.

There is mo error message, there is just no option anywhere to save it to the
usb thingy.
I have tried to put it on the desktop, but I really don't know what I am
doing.
i think it is more my lack of knowledge than any technical problems.

What type of external drive is it and is it possible that all storage is
dedicated for media content... i.e. not standard file storage area.

what I would do is open file explorer, find the drive and see if you can
create a folder off of the root named somthing like "Transfer" for these
needs... hot tip, make the name no longer than 8 characters with no
spaces... something that could pay off in the future.

I don't understand "there is just no option anywhere to save it to the usb

have you tried doing File-Save As, and when the location dialog box appears,
click on My Computer in the left-hand pane. If that doesn't show the USB
drive, then click on the drop-down location box at the top of the dialog
box.

Hello,

After saving it to the Desktop, right-click the file and select Copy.
Access your external drive by clicking on My Computer, your removable
drive and Paste your file there.

That's two steps more than doing File-save as.... ;-)

Hello,

Sometimes, the removable drive does not appear in the Save As dialog box
unless F5 is hit and that does not work sometimes too.

I have personally experienced this which is why I am suggesting to Save to
the desktop and manually copy it to the removable drive from My Computer
using Cut/Paste.
