HELP! How Do You Get Rid of Unwanted- Burned-In Popups?

I will occasionally get a pop-up at a time when I want to
get popups ( since some sites like ebay don't work unless
you allow popups).

In this case--as has happened some half-a-dozen times in the
past year--the popup gets "burned in" on the screen, and no
matter what I do, it is superimposed on any background I use
or on any wallpaper I use.

The last popup I got and killed-- only semi-successfully
apparently -- was an ad for a porn site. I don't remember
visiting that porn site, but I remember the popup, and I
remember being bombarded with a dozen full-screen "menus"
for porn.

I killed all the pages, ran my AdAware...

Now, I have this Ad on the side of my screen.

The message on the side of my screen, in bright yellow and
pink is

" GET LAI... "
TONIGHT! '

( Get Laid Tonight!)

Which is now superimposed on everything!

I have cleaned my registry. I have run AdAware and Spybot.

I don't know how to get into the actual registry, and the
couple of times I have tried, I have had to fdisk and
format.

Can someone tell me where I can find this unwanted banner
add so I can get rid of it. I believe it showed up last
night, but it blended into the wallpaper I was using at the
time, and I didn't notice it til today.

I use GoBack, which turned the clock back 12 hours, but that
didn'tdo it.

HELP!

Your computer is not clean. Start by running Dave Lipman's Smitfraud
remover:

***
David's instructions:

Download from http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/SmitFraud.exe

Execute SmitFraud.exe (Note: You must accept the default of C:\McAfee)
Choose Unzip
Choose Close

NOTE: You may have to disable your software firewall or allow WGET.EXE
to go through your firewall to enable WGET.EXE to download the needed
McAfee-related files.

Execute c:\mcafee\clean.bat (or Double-click on 'Clean Link' in c
\mcafee)

A final report in HTML format called C:\mcafee\ScanReport.HTML will be
generated. At the end of the scan, it will be displayed in your browser
(Opera, FireFox or Internet Explorer). It is suggested that you move
the report out of c:\mcafee before performing another scan.

That should do it, but if not here are some other removal tools and

Thanks!

I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes!

I've previously been forced to look at similar s* for a week
before being forced to fdisk and format, several times
losing MONTHS of data. Some of these A* H*s have downloaded
hardcore porn to my screen 2 days before I visited my 5-year
old with the computer as our main "toy."

This is bloody f*in' annoying!

After you get the computer cleaned up, here are some links to help you
stay safe and productive.

1. You should never lose "months of data". You should be backing up
regularly.

2. Practice "Safe Hex".
