Help! - general protection fault

I'm not sure if I'm directing this query to the right location, so please
bear with me. Our secretary uses Broderbund Print Shop 22 on her PC which
uses XP OS. Lately, when she tries to download a graphic from the CD for her
newsletters, bulleltins, etc. she gets the following:

"AGDS16 caused a general protection fault in module 1F16.dll at OOOC:1ABD.
Choose close". She closes the message and the computer crashes. On many
occasions, there is no message but the computer still crashes.

If she waits at least 5 minutes or so, the computer may clear itself. With
the stress of time, she will often simply turn the computer off (which I know
is certainly not the best), waits a couple of minutes and starts up.

If someone can assist a very exasperated secretary, we would be very
grateful. If it is not related at all to the OS, any direction would be
wonderful.

Many thanks. Norm.

I found one hit here.

"AGDS16 Caused a GPF in Module *16.dll

When attempting to open the CompuPic Image Browser, the following message
is sometimes received: "AGDS16 caused a general protection fault in module
*16.DLL." (The number 16 may or may not appear in the error message. In
addition, *16.dll indicates that the error can occur in a number of
different files.) This issue is typically the result of a corrupted
thumbnail file. In most cases, deleting this file should resolve the issue."

Somehow, I doubt that is the cause. Sounds too easy.

The original supplier of the program, appears to still be in business,
for whatever that is worth.

Xandros

Ensure the program is run in compatibility mode. Right click the shortcut
that launches the program (likely in the Startmenu->Programs) and select
Properties->Compatibility Tab. Select Windows 98. See if that helps.

Thanks, Xandros, I shall give this a try. I hadn't thought of the
compatibility mode so much appreciated.

Thanks also to Paul and Gerry - your suggestions allowed me to solve about
half of the problem. Now to really identify the other part.

Norm.
