help function and restore function missing

After cleaning up my system I have accidently deleted some system programs
because I’cant call ‘help und support’ and ‘restore’ function anymore!! With
the help and support function I get the message ‘can’t find helpctr.exe’ and
the restore function doesn’t start at all. Can somebody give me help to
reinstall this missing functions?! I have windowx xp with sp2. Thanks

The first thing you should do is a repair installation. Boot to your original
Windows XP CD and follow the instructions in setup to so a repair
installation. Be sure to read the pages carefully, if you follow the first
screen that mentions repairing Windows, it will launch the repair console
which isn't what you want. Bypass the first repair screen and continue as if
you are installing Windows from scratch. I believe it is the partition screen
where you can chose to do a Repair Installation. This will replace all your
changed/missing system files without wiping out your registry and clobbering
your installed applications.

After the repair, run a thourough scan of your system for virus' and
spyware/malware and clean it completely before you reinstall SP2.
