help for office 2000 install on new windows xp???anyone?

can anyone tell me if it's possible to install my Office
2000 on disc to my new Windows XP operating system?
It keeps telling me that i need a newer version of
Window's installer. Wouldn't I need an older version? I
have no idea, i just know that school is starting and i
need this office product so that I don't have to buy a
new one that i cant afford.
Please help!
