help for error messages

I have problem with my computer.I boughted it a year ago
and ever since then its giving me problems.Its p4 but
some times got stuck and slow.Recently I am recieving
messages like low on virtual memory,buffer over run
detected and message of error no. 0xc0000142.I have my
anti virus software running and updated.Please help me in
fixing my computer.I have windos xp home edition on my
system.I will appreciata your help.

okay,

first thing to do:

- get offline, close all programs, including those in the system tray, wait
for a few seconds and then look at the hdd led on your front-panel. Is it
showing any disk activity? cause if it does then you have a program on the
loose! (don't forget to close the antivirus monitor program)

- check the windows partition! does it have enogh free space
- do a clean reboot, then press Start>Run, type in the runbox:
%temp%
delete all files inside the folder that just opened

- press CTRL+ESCAPE, see if there are any weird programs running

- are you sure your antivirus is good, try www.free-av.com for a free good
one, i use it on my hole network and it keeps me clean and tidy. update it

- use Microsoft RegClean, google it but be sure to get the real Microsoft
Regclean, if it asks you for money, it ain't it

What version of Windows is installed?

How large is your hard disk and how much free space? In Windows Explorer
place the cursor on your C drive, right click and select Properties to
get this information. Is the hard drive partitioned?

The error message 0xc0000142 indicates a problem starting an application
( programme ). What application or applications are generating this
error?

Are you checking for spyware? If not installed download Adaware and / or
update Reference file
from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ and use it to remove
parasites.
