Help - Firewalls in Windows XP

O Noah

What is the basic difference between the
built in Firewall in Windows XP Pro and
the Zone Alarm firewall?
The reason I am asking this simple question is -
I am having difficulty in installing the latest
free version of the Zone Alarm 6.0.667.000
(not the Pro) on my Gateway PC, but I can
load it in my second PC, and it works well.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thank you for the info. The trouble I am having is -
on my Gateway entry PC, as I load the Zone Alarm, I can receive
the Internet, but the Zone Alarm does not allow the TCP/IP signal
pass through for the next PC in our home network.
The inbound IP address and the local network IP address group
is set properly. Is fact, I am transferring files between the PCs. It is
only
the TCP/IP pass through trouble. If I disable the Zone Alarm on the
Gateway, I can receive the TCP/IP on the 2nd PC. Internal Zone is
set under 'trusted' mode. External Zone is set under 'Internet'
mode. Firewall is set under 'Medium'. Trusted Zone is set 'Medium'.
I had this setting for few years, and it was working OK.
The last version update made the Zone Alarm, a blocking wall, without
pass through. I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2 in both the PCs.
Zone Alarm version is 6.0.667.000. What is frustrating is, that I cannot
load the earlier version anymore on my Gateway PC.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
