HELP! Error message; 'network cable unplugged'

R

Roger Wood

As simply as this error message sounds, I still cannot
figure it out. I get this message 'NETWORK CABLE
UNPLUGGED' down on the connectivity icon in the system
tray with a red-X on the line between the 2 PC's.

I have exhausted my-rookie-self in trying to resolve this.
I am using a 3COM Megahertz LAN PC CARD 589E (ethernet) in
my Dell Latitude laptop with Windows 2000. Is there
anything that I should know here to resolve this. I've
searched the knowledgebase in 2000 but cannot find the
info that would apply to my problem. Whew! ...tired!

Any help would greatly appreciated!

What's the cable connected to? Does the cable work? Have you tried others?
Is is connected directly to another network card? If it is, you should be
using a crossover cable.
