help deleting malware

Hope Im in the right newsgroup....I have stuff like...c:\program
files\windows adstatus\winstat.exe and other crap that will not delete,
can I get help deleting these things? Im using win 98.

I like webroot's SpySweeper. Can d/l it or buy it at office supply store
for about 30 bucks. After diddling with the freebies like AdAware, Spybot
S&D, and EasyCleaner, found out the much more powerful Spysweeper was worht
the money. Set it to run in the background and forget it.
Even a high school and college kid can't load up the system with crap
anymore, and no more "Daddy" calls.
