If you go to the Windows update site, on the left hand side there will be a
installation history link that will tell you all the information you ever
wanted to know and more.

if you have got a firewall and a virusscan,
you shouldn't install anything hotfixes, because
most of the patches are security patches...and
if you have got a firewall, it will protect your machine.

i'd agree with you ken.

i do have a firewall and virusscan but have all the patches...never had a
prob. security patches not only will make xp run better, it will further
protect you pc and your privacy.

for example. recently was the blaster worm.
it uses a security matter... the microsoft
released a patch for it, but i didn't install it,
because my software/hardware firewall protects
my machine.

A patch repairs a problem and makes another
- by a microsoft expert (not I! )

For some attacks, there is more than one way to protect yourself.
For others there is not.

Moreover, there are many risks and many ways to protect yourself.
No way to protect yourself is necessarily perfect. Taking
advantage of all the protection available is simply prudent.

Your antivirus program and firewall protect you against known
risks. No risks are being discovered all the time, and problems
often appear before the antivirus or firewall is updated to
combat them.

Not installing the Microsoft hotfixes is nothing short of
foolhardy. They are free, and rarely if ever are there any
problems associated with them. The risk of not having them is far
greater than any risk of problems with them. If you haven't been
burnt yet, I'm almost willing to guarantee that sooner or later
you will.

Do what you will for yourself, but advising others not to install
Windows hotfixes is nothing short of irresponsible. It's
absolutely terrible and dangerous advice.
