One hard drive and have created two NTFS partitions on it.

First partition has the OS loaded win2k.
I want to be able to store the image of first partition to the second
partition and be able to restore from this stored image.

I am reading posts in this group and I can see people have succesfully
stored images to external drives as well (including USB drives as
well)

however what utility should I go for, ghost 2003 or DriveImage, ...?
any caveats ?
actually I tried using ghost (old edition, may be 2001 or so) it could
not see the two partitions as separate, and when asked to create an
image sees the whole hard disk as one partition. So wanted to confirm
that the newer editions like Ghost 2003 can see various patitions on a
hrd dosk and can dump the image from one partition to another even
though they are on the same hard disk.

Or do I require to get an external Hard drive to be able to dump and
store images ?

Hi,

............the newer editions like Ghost 2003 can see various
partitions........

Yes, it does that. You can clone a single partition or your whole drive
to another partition on the same drive or on another. Clone disk to disk
or partition to partition are the options.

If you do a search for Ghost on ebay you'll find it's not too much for
it's capabilities.
