Help! Can't set up web-based mail through Outlook 2002 with Vista

I am running Outlook 2002 on Vista. I have set the default email client on
the system to Outlook and set up my Hotmail account correctly through
Outlook. But every time I start Outlook, it gives me the following error
message:

"Either there is no default email client or the current mail client cannot
fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as
the default mail client."

Well I've done that, as well as searching every database known to mankind to
find out why it won't work. Any ideas would be much appreciated before I
throw my PC through my office window!

Thanks!

Do you mean that OL2002 isn't going to work with Vista, full stop? What
then? I buy a newer version of OL?

Are you sure you set up your Hotmail account correctly? See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=287424 "How to configure Outlook to
work with Hotmail".

Are you sure you set Outlook as the default email client? See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=905421 "You receive an 'Either there
is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the
messaging request' error message when you try to use the Address Book in
Word".

Also see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813745 "'Either there is no
default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the
messaging request' error message when you send e-mail from third-party
program in Outlook" for another possible solution.
