I posted earlier, am desparate to fix this problem. I attempt to send an
email, and get the following error message:

Account: 'mail.hughes.net', Server: 'mail.hughes.net', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] invalid user or password', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

When I attempt to put in the appropriate user and password, it will not
accept it, and asks for the user and password over and over. The email was
working until yesterday. I attempted to turn off the email scan associated
with AVG virus, and that did not make a difference at all. What can I do to
fix this?

Well, I tried, but it still did not work. Are there any other possible
solutions? This is frustrating! thanks for your help!

On the odd chance that the account was corrupted, either by AVG or by some other
means, delete that mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

Well, either your problem is with Hughes, or else your Windows Mail is
badly corrupted. To narrow this down any further, install the upgraded
email program, Windows Live Mail (WLM):
http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

If WLM has the same problem, then Hughes is the culprit.
