HELP! Can't Send Email Via MS Outlook 2003 - Charter Not Any Help!

Hi there,

My email has worked for 2 years and all of a sudden when I added a new
email account it stopped sending email. I can still receive, but can't
send. I've called Charter Communications to verify the servers since
the error message I receive says that the SMTP server can't connect.
Exact message here: Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is
unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).

HELP! By the way, I login via wireless network (NETGEAR -secure or
LINKSYS - unsecured).

Oh, I can receive & send email via webmail. Turned off all virus
scans, firewalls, etc. Created new profile and deleted the 2nd email
account. Nothing is working!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Tracey

Have you checked your authentication for that mail server?

Milly,

How can I check my authentication for the mail server? Never had to do
this before.

Control Panel->Mail Icon->Accounts->View or Change->highlight your account = Change->More Settings. On the server tab, ensure you have your authentication set per Charter's recommendations - most ISPs now have the requirement to check "my server requires authentication."
