Help! Cannot display the folder (Tasks), no Data Files listed

After trying some troubleshooting tips for a separate problem, as advised by
an MVP, I closed Outlook, renamed my PST, opened Outlook again, chose a
different PST, then closed and reverted back to the original.

All was fine, except now when I click Tasks it says 'Cannot disaply the
folder'. The To-Do List also doesn't show under the Calendar.

I followed the MS KB article, but I think the problem is something else. I
have no Data Files listed under Tools>Account Settings. Furthermore if I
try to change there the default delivery folder, I notice my PST is listed 3
times. It only exists once.

Someone else reported this bug in this group, but they fixed it by removing
the duplicate data files. My problem is the Data Files list is empty.

If I click Add to add the data file, it stays empty after adding it.

Any ideas?

I find that hard to believe (or it wasn't an Outlook MVP) as this is not the
proper method to change your default pst file. You've now ended up
corrupting your mail profile and must be recreated. For more information on
how to do this see;

Sorry Roady, I should clarify. The other MVP was your good self, but I did
not mean you misadvised me.

When I said "*AFTER* trying some troubleshooting tips ... advised by an MVP
.... I..." tried some other things and corrupted my profile. I was not
saying that you advised me to rename the PST, I tried that myself as a last
resort after your tips failed to work.

I put why they did not work in our other thread 'What Does MS Say About
Outlook 2007 Slowness Issue? ETA for soln?' with regards to deleting
invisible read receipts from Outbox.

Sorry for any confusion.

Yikes, I wish someone had warned me that doing what that link says, will
delete all my rules, junk mail safe lists, and more. :( Thankfully I had a
fairly recent backup.
