Help Cannot change color on desktop.

My desktop has changed to a white background. I am not sure how this
happened. there seems to be something wrong. this is not the color that is
showing in my Control Panel Desktop Appearance tab. And when I make an
adjustment there, it either doesn't register or the picture is there but no
icons. What did I do and how do I fix it?

you could try right clicking your desktop and clicking refresh, or you could
reboot your computer
