I have Windows 2000
How do I stop the auto refreshing of the of the file
system in 2000?
I have found that on EVERY Microsoft Window OS that the
screen flickers because of some refreshing process that
the OS does and the more files I have stored on my
harddrive the worse the flickering appears. Also, the
deeper you go down into sub folders the worse the
flickering gets. For those that think that their system
does not do this it is because when you have few files and
resources are under used the refresh occur very fast but
the more files you have on your harddrives the more time
it takes to finish the refresh. Also when other processes
occure during the flicker it frequently will cause
Explorer to loose setting such as resetting the scroll bar
back to the top, changes from thumbnail mode to detail mode
This is EXTREMELY annoying and disruptive. It also causes
problems with other software such as Windows Media will
sometime loose sync with videos.
Please do not reply telling you do not have this problem
because you are wrong it is just that you don't notice it
if it occurs very fast. Just try loading your harddrive
with a lot of file and then you will see it. I been
contacted by a lot of people who have has the same problem
they've asked me to rely any solution I find.
ps - Microsft after not acknowledging this problem for
years acknowledge that this problem exists in Windows XP
but not in any of the other window OS's they produce but
it is there.
