Help and Support/ Remote Assistance not showing up

Hello all,

When I go to Start-->Help and Support nothing shows up. I don't see any hard
drive activity. Also, nothing happens when I attempt to start up Remote
Assistance.

I am running a Dell Dimension 4400 with XP SP2 installed. Dell Support
claims that I should run a repair of the OS. Since I have SP2 installed and
my XP disc is SP1, will repairing the OS revert the version and possibly
destroy any settings?

If repairing the OS doesn't seem like a smart decision, what should I do?
