I have Windows XP Home edition. When I open Help in Support, the right half
of the window has the little green arrows,
but no words next to them. I tried to reinstall the help and support but it
said that I need a special file that ended with .xml and it is on the sp2
CD. I only have the regular CD that came with my computer and it is not a
SP2. I got the SP2 from the update in my computer. Any ideas on how to get
the words back? Thanks for your time in advance.

See if this helps:

Go to Start/Run and type in each:

regsvr32 /u C:\Winnt\System32\hhctrl.ocx
regsvr32 C:\Winnt\System32\hhctrl.ocx

Note: C:\Windows or C:\Winnt depending on your setup.

Troubleshooting Windows XP

It didn't help. I also went through most of the troubleshooters on your site
listed below. I don't understand it. Thanks for trying.

dataspec.xml is the file name

The file isn't on my Windows XP Home CD. It is a few years old and it
doesn't have SP2 on it. It doesn't even have SP1. Those updates were put on
my computer through the update feature. I searched the CD for the file and
it's not there. The CD error message says that I need a CD with SP2 on it.
The name of the file that the CD keeps asking me for is "dataspec.xml"
without the quotes. I did everything on this site and nothing works.
Everything except the new install with "dataspec.xml".

Thanks again.

I have this same problem with my computer. Can anybody help me fix it?

See if the troubleshooter on this link helps:

MJ's Help Diagnostics
Description:
MJ's Diagnostics is a small utility that reports if all the HTML
Help runtime DLLs are installed and registered correctly. If a DLL is
not registered then it will ask if you want to register it. It also
checks the RoboHelp DLL (HHActiveX.dll).

Thank you. I downloaded and ran that utility on my computer and it said that
I am missing a few files that is needed to run the Help and support menu. I
copied and pasted below the files that it says I am missing. Also, I
uploaded the report that the software returned to me. It's uploaded to this
Website if anybody can direct me where to find these files
http://tinyurl.com/4tt6t ? The software couldnt find them on my computer so
I couldn't install them. My computer search says that they aren't here. The
CD says they aren't on that either. I don't know how these files disappeared
off my computer. But they're gone. :(
I sure would like my 'help ans support' directory back. :) Thanks for the
help in advance. :)

Copy dataspec.xml from c:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 to
C:\Windows\PCHealth\HealthCtr\Config
