"Help and Support" function quit working

Hello and thanks for any help.

My "Help and Support" function from my Start Menu has quit working. The item
is still there in the menu but when I click on it the screen flickers for a
split second then it's back to normal without opening up the function. Also
the F1 button has ceased to open "Help and Support."

Is it possible I accidentally disabled this function? It also does not work
in Safe Mode.

Windows XP Service Pack 2

Thanks!

Thanks very much.
Unfortunately neither one worked. When I tried the SFC I was sure it would
work because it asked for my original Windows CD to replace missing system
files. I put the CD in and it ran for a long time and seemed to finish OK but
still not "Help and Support." Any more I can try? Thanks for trying.

Chirp,

Did you run any Registry cleaner softare or Norton WinDoctor etc program for
instance? Do you remember when is the last time where Help and Support
worked? You might want to do a System Restore and see if it works. :)

Lately I've been experimenting with Avast, Ad Aware, CW Shredder in addition
to my usual Hijack This, Microsoft Antispyware, and E-Trust Anti-Virus. Maybe
I accidentally changed something. I know the Help and Support worked within
the last couple weeks. I will do a System Restore tonight or tomorrow and get
back to you.

Thanks again for your help!

Chrip,

I am sure one of these programs have deleted some important registry
accidentally.

Once you have tried system restore, let me know if it fixes the problem! :)

Thanks again, but that didn't do it. I tried to restore it to a couple
different dates but the restore failed. (That's the first time a restore
didn't work for me.)
Could it have something to do with the "SFC" I ran yesterday because it
asked me for my XP disk and apparently re-installed some missing files. If it
helps any, at about the same time I lost the 'Help and Support' function, all
my programs disappeared from my "Start" menu. They are now coming back one at
a time as I run a program.

Thanks for your help.

Chirp--

I don't know how you're running SFC but I have a suggestion that a lot of
people seem to forget. I also don't know what Service Pack level if any of
XP you have.
But unless you have some type of XPSP2 CD, if you use a CD that lsunched on
October 25, 2001 you won't get updated file replacement if it's needed by
the scan.

You should regedit to point to the install files of the service pack unless
you have an XPSP2 CD or have slipstreamed one:
