(help) after Win XP re-installation fonts aren't as bold as they used to be..

Hello,

I have posted this message on microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware but
had no replies so I am trying here too, sorry in case it's not the
right newsgroup.

I had to reinstall Windows XP after a bad
ripartitioning to make room for a Linux distribution.

After the re-installation, with the Compaq/HP recovery CDs,
Windows works well but I noticed that the Character Fonts are not as
bold as they used to be.. and some images for example from the browser
show dithering..

I thought about a configuration problem with the graphic card but it
seems well configured..

I have a Compaq Presario with an ATI Radeon 9200SE and a flat screen
Compaq FP 7317.

The Screen panel on WinXP shows that the resolution is 1280x1024 with
32 bit colors.

Under the Hardware configurations the Video Card appears on 2 entries
:

1) Radeon 9200 Series
2) Radeon 9200 Series Secondary

The HP/Compaq assistance told me it should be normal.

Every suggestion/idea is welcome

Thank you in advance

Alex

hello,

thank you for your message,

yes with the clear type fonts the character are a little bolder and
clearer but what I meant in my message was about the standard ones.

About the ATI driver I have checked but it is the last version I have.

I was wondering why even some graphic image shows dithering (for
example the energy star logo).
