Help - 3 problems I can't figure out

I'm having 3 problems with my XP Pro based machine that never used to
happen. When the problems started, I can't really say, but all updates
have been installed.

Problem #1: When using IE 6.0, anything placed into the Favorites menu
or the Links menu shows a IE "webpage" icon, instead of whatever icon
that particular site uses. As an example, when I add eBay or Pogo to
either list, instead of using the eBay or Pogo icon, it shows the IE
"webpage" icon.

Problem #2: This problem may be related to #1. When using IE, and I
go to a web site, if I like the site, I sometimes put a shortcut to
that site on my desktop. I do this by selecting "File, Send, Shortcut
To Desktop", which then places an icon for the site on my desktop. The
problem is, even if the icon is the official icon for that site, once
again such as eBay or Pogo, the next time I reboot my machine, the icon
has changed from the eBay or Pogo icon to a IE "webpage" icon. So
basically, any shortcut on my desktop that originated from a website
ends up showing as a IE "webpage" icon.

Problem #3: This problem is just plain weird. While trying to figure
out what was going on with problems 1 & 2, I discovered that when I
open the Display Properties panel, and look in the Desktop tab for my
wallpaper choices, not only does it list all of the XP wallpaper
choices, __*it also lists every picture I have in "My Pictures"!* I
tried renaming My Pictures to My Photos and then rebooting, hoping that
would remove them being on the list of wallpaper choices, but that did
not work.

Overall, my computer works fine with the exception of these three
problems. I could sure us some help in fixing these. Any suggestions
as to what I need to do? Thanks.

The icons aren't permanent. They are temporary files. Try clearing your cache.

#3 is by design. People want their photos as desktop backgrounds. It stops listing My Pics when there is around 100 photos in it.
