I am having trouble getting my headset to work. I have pulgged it into the
correct places and i have checked that i have done it correctly (it plugs
into the green and red ports at the back of my pc). The headphones works
fine, but i cant get the microphone to work. when I go into volume control/
options/ Properties and choose recording, my headset doesnt appear as an
option for my recording device. It seems as though it does'nt know that it is
plugged in i guess. I was hoping that one of you guys could help. Thanks

goto control panel >sound and audio devices...under the "audio" tab ..do you
have a "recording device" ?

Well...it says Realtek AC97 Audio is my default sound recording device so i
clicked the drop down bar and i don't get any other options. My microphone is
plugged in, so it should show it in this drop down menu right??

Can you supply full details of the make, model etc of the headset, sound
management and sound card.

You _are_ plugging the microphone into a _mono_ microphone socket
aren't you. Not plugging a _mono_ microphone into a _stereo_ input. ?

I have had to use an adapter before now.

There is also the issue of whether you have a mixer with the microphone
input muted or not selected.
