headers

I'm trying to put a header on a 5-page letter without it coming up on the
first page, but when I uncheck the box to tell it not to show on first page,
it takes out the letterhead that is on the template with it on the first page
only. The rest of the pages are fine. How do I get it to stay off the first
page without taking off the letterhead with it?

Thanks.

If you have your letterhead in the header, then of course turning off the
first page header will remove that lettergead fromn the first page. What you
want is a *different* first page header with your letterhead in the first
page header and the other header content in the subsequent pages header.

Thank you so much. But how do I get a different header for the first page?
Sorry to sound so stupid!

I thought I had it right. I went to View, Headers, Layout, Different first
page, checked it off, and the letterhead disappeared again. How do I unlock
the letterhead from the typed information?
