Headers

Can anyone help me? I transfered a document from WordPerfect (1996) to Word
2002 and am unable to change the header. When I try I create the new header I
want but when I close the instruction box the old header is still there and
the new one is gone.
 
There could be a text box (or some kind of graphic) covering the header area.
With the header/footer area closed, click the Select Objects button on the
Drawing toolbar. Drag a box across the header to see if it something gets
selected. Then just press Delete to get rid of it.
