When text is inserted into a header using a bookmark how can the font size be changed eg from arial 11 to arial 9? The document is protected and therefore the header font size cannot be altered manually and the requirement is for font size 9 in the header not 11 (which is the required size of the original text)

in the body of the protected document? Try this:
- Alt+F9 to view the field codes
- Insert a \* CharFormat switch at the end of the REF field. Example:
{ REF BookmarkName \* CharFormat }
- Press F9 to force the field to update
- Alt+F9 to view the field results
