header will nor show

I have a word 2003 document that will not allow me to insert a header into
some sections. The document has a number of sections.

If I click on view header and footer in some sections the header and footer
remains blank - there is no text or indication that the header or footer is
there. If I try and link to the previous header - nothing happens.

I have copied over and saved this as a new document, I have saved it as a
web page and then back to word. All to no avail.

Any clever ideas?

Be sure you are in the section with the problem, then check "Page Setup" on
the File menu, and . It's possible the top margin is set at too low a value
for a header to appear.

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm (but in Word 2003, your
first line of attack should be to use Open and Repair).
