Header keeps adding hard returns

Hi there. My documents was corrupted and doing several things that I now read
about are fairly common---bolding/ital whole document, etc.

I've fixed this per the suggestions of some folks on this forum.

However, is anyone else having this problem----Word is adding hard returns
into my header every few minutes, until hundreds of pages are added to my
already huge document.

What can I do about this?

Have you tried copying the data into a new document?
