I want to insert a header in a Word doc using the 'Insert Autotext' function.
However, my Auto Text function is greyed out (inactive). How can I
ractivate it so I can use the function?

Is the AutoText function greyed out if you try to use it in the body of
the document? If yes, then you probably overwrote your Normal.dot
template (Word 2003 earlier) or Normal.dotm template (Word 2007) with a
regular Word document. To fix this in Word 2003 or earlier, close Word,
and "create a new Normal.dot from scratch" as described at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm . In Word
2007, the steps are similar except you want to rename the Normal.dotm
template.
