HDD misread space

I had just reinstalled my OS (WIN XP PRO) about 2 weeks
ago and about a week ago 1 of my hard drives (2 9.55 GB
partitions, Western Digital) are being misread so to
speak, my 'C:' drive (which contains my os and a game
called medal of honor allied assault and it's expansion
spearhead) and windows claims from the drive properties
about 6.08 Gig is being used when i view all hidden files
and select everything it only adds up to 4.25 gig, my
system restore options are down to 200mb being taken up.
My 'e:' drive is taking up 5.66 gb according to the drive
properties but in all reality it is only taking up 4.96,
and i have system restore shut off for it.Where is this
extra compilation of files coming from?

This is probably slack space. If you have, let's say 4 Kb cluster size, a 1
Kb file will occupy one cluster all to itself so 100 x 1 Kb files will take
up 400 Kb.
You are concerned for nothing.
