The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to purchase and use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.

The alternative is to perform a "clean install" of Windows XP:

#1 . Yes there are a number of tools that will partition drives. The XP CD
contains such a tool in it's Recovery Console. Take this link and look for
How To Partition http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm
#2. Yes.
#3. Once again the Recovery Console will format without having to go into
the setup routine. Take the above link and this time look for How To Format
#4. You can easily do a google search for backup tools. We do not know what
your needs are. For example do you want to do full system backup or just
backup files. Do you want to backup to specific devices like CD/DVD or tape
drives etc. You know your needs but we don't.
#5. Consult the Help files that comes with the application.

Hi, Rahul.

As I said in my detailed Reply to one of your many other messages today...

PLEASE read the instructions for how to use these Discussion Groups.

Among other points, note how to "Crosspost", rather than "Multi-post". When
you post the same message to multiple newsgroups, those of us who are giving
our time trying to help have to read the same question(s) over and over. If
you will address a SINGLE message to multiple groups by including all the
group names in the address space, when I read your message in one group, it
will be marked "Read" (for ME) in all those groups. The payoff for you is
that all the responses will appear in one coherent thread (in each of those
groups) and you won't have to check every group to find all the replies.
Also, if I give bad or incomplete advice in one group, a reader in another
group can correct or complete what I told you.

But it is rarely necessary to post the same message more than once, or in
more than one group.
