HD Cylinder Limit

WXP Home SP2. 80GB HD
Partitioned (partition magic) @ 20GB for C: with 7GB free (for wiggle
room). Want to expand it to 30GB but partition magic says I'm already over
the cylinder limit and may not boot. It does boot just fine now but I am
hesitant to expand the C: to 30GB if it might cause trouble booting. Any
suggestions?
Thanks....

PM is not letting me make the change. I change the 2(0,000) to a 3 and click
ok. PM changes the 3 back to a 2. ?

What version of PM is it?

If you have only 7 GB of wiggle room after the 20 GB partition then do you
have another partition after the wiggle room?

Version 8
There are three other partitions besides the C: one had 20, one 25 and one
10. I lowered both the 20 and 25 to 15 so I know I have 10 free

let me add a little more information.

in PM there is a graph which shows a box C: with about 13GGB used and about
7 free. Right next to box C is box P(photo partition) with only 500 mb used
and almost 15GB free. Then there is an unallocated box of 10G, then box M
(music partition), then another box of unallocated of 5 G and then drive
W(work stuff).

I got a little further by clicking the box to merge partitions thinking I
could merge the unallocated area with C but it looks like the merge would
only work with adjacent boxes and C is adjacent to P so I'm hesitant to do
that although I could move things around (take photos out of P, merge with
C, then reduce C and move photos back to a new P).

Thanks for your input.

To resize C you have to move the photo partition to the right to take up the
10G unallocated space thus creating unallocated space after C:. There has to
be unallacated space to the right of a partition for it to be resized
upwards.

That worked. Thank you.
