HD appears in unplug/eject dialogue

Win2k sp4
This has just occured a sata HD connected to the mobo has started to appear
in the usb Unplup/Eject Hardware, on the task bar.
It appears correctly in explorer.
Possibly connected, one of the HD icons in explorer now shows as what
appears to be a network icon, as apposed to std HD icon.
I have run tweakui repair, and googled but can only find info re
winxp/network
No other hw or apps installed/changed
I do have a usb external drive, but this has been used for some time before
these changes occured

I'm not sure if this applies to 2k or not?

Device Manager
Open the Drive's properties
Click the Policies tab
Is it set for quick removal? If so that's the reason it's showing up to be
unplugged.

For Info
Apparently since my sata chipset controler/driver supports hot swap this is
default behaviour
