I wish you could take a picture and post it of what you mean by "hazy
windows", and you refer to Windows Mail which is Vista's email and news
reader program. I'm not sure if you mean the fonts, the background, or
both.
Try checking your display settings. As you know, every monitor has an ideal
resolution setting (rt. click desktop>Personalize>display settings and
checking with the monitor stats. A quick check tells me it's ideal
resolution is 1680 x 1050; but I've seen some tests on line that prefer
1024 by 768

Also hit the Advanced Settings button>monitor tab>make sure you have the
appropriate screen refresh rate for your particular monitor.
Depending on your video card, there are also settings you can tweak at the
same place--some more elaborate and sophisticated than others.
Updating your video card driver could help either because of the update or
in case the video drive is corrupted. There is actually a way to test a Vid
Card in safe mode in XP or Vista rarely used.
