having trouble posting

J

John Keenan

with regard to http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/

from 2 of my machines I'm unable to post a new thread or reply to a thread.
I enter my question, and when I click the Post button, the web page just
seems to refresh itself back to where it was (with my question still typed
in)... In other words it goes no where. I've tried with Alert Me on &
off.... no difference.

The only machine that is working is my windows 2K machine... the other 2
machines are XP machines....

these are my personal computer on home network using comcast as my ISP

Any idea on what to look for?

also with regard to

http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/

if I want to post a question via the web page (vs through the news reader
(this)) method...

the "New" button just beeps at me.... does nothing else.

The only thing I can think of is in the past couple of weeks I installed the
latest Windows XP patch (not SP2)

Any ideas on this too?

The common situation seems to be posting via the web page is causing
problems

I too am having difficulties trying to post a new inquiry, which makes this
discussion group useless to me. I used the news reader
http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ at least I think it is. It looks different
than what I had before, but the new button does nothing. Where should I go
to get another reader that might work? Just in case, I have an icon in the
system tray for a program long deleted, and the thread in the newgroup only
addresses icons for programs that are being used. MicroHard's fix at How to

removes the icon until reboot.

thanks

But it does not look like the forums from http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/

are accessible that way.... at least not that I can tell.
