Having trouble getting my current Outlook Contacts

E

Este

I have created an Access database using the template for Contacts. I recently
changed to a new computer and cannot get the contacts list that are current
to come up when I try to bring in new contacts I've added to the Outlook
contacts list. When I choose "Add from Outlook Contacts" i get only an old
Contacts list.

How can I get to the current Outlook Contacts?

Will I have to create another Access database for Contacts?

Help please!

Thanks do much

You don't provide enough info for this question. Most important in this
sitituation is versions of your Office programs. This may be as simple as
relinking the outlook file. Are you using the new 2007 contacts feature?
More information please. Pete

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your response. I am very new and not "tech" savvy. I am using
Microsoft Office 2007.

I don't know how to relink the Outlook file. This may seem simple to you,
and obvious, but for me it's like not knowing where the on switch is.

What other information do you need me to give to you? Perhaps an explanation
of "relinking" the Outlook file would be a good start. I'll also try to look
it up on the Microsoft site.

Thanks again,
Este

When the box pops up to select names the top right box can drop down and
allow you to select different lists. Have you looked to see if there are
any other contact lists in the drop down box and if one of these has your
current contact list?

Also the contact card in outlook must have an email address or it won't show
up in the address book within Access

Hi Pete,

I do have a list that comes up, but it does not include everything. I think
you hit the nail on the head when you said that the contacts need to have an
email address. I do not have email information for many of my contacts. I was
hoping there was a way to get all of my contacts into one address list in
Acccess, but perhaps that won't work if I need email addresses for everyone.

Perhaps I can find another tool in Microsoft Office that will allow me to
get an address list even if contacts don't have an email address listed.

Thanks again -- i'll keep working on it. It was good to get confirmation
from you that I am getting the contacts correctly using Access though. I just
thought it was weird that I couldn't get all of my Contacts.

Thanks so much.

You can use VBA but for a quick fix just add (e-mail address removed) or something
you know is fake as an address. This new feature I think (educated guess)
was mainly added to support SharePoint server and email address was key to
that. For many other solutions search google with something like "ms access
add contact from outlook" without the quotes.

Good idea Pete! I'll just add a fake address...that'll work fine. Then I can
put in the "real" ones when I get them.
