Hello,

I'm constantly getting the following error message when sending emails

The host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'TEST', Account: 'Sport Work', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

My current ISP is Verizon FIOS

Please advise! I set up the account, but still having problems

SMTP is an incorrect server name.

Go to the tools menu>accounts>select your account>properties>server tab.
Enter the following in the appropriate server name boxes:
Verizon incoming mail server: incoming.verizon.net
Verizon outgoing mail server: outgoing.verizon.net

Dave,

Thanks for the information. Now, I'm having problems receiving emails. The
current error message reads s follows:

Account: 'Sport Work', Server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR invalid command', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

If that setting was already unchecked, which antivirus are you running?
Some of them are not fully compatible with Windows Mail.

Gary,

Now the error message reads

Subject 'test', Account: 'Sport Work', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 SIZE 20971520', Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D

This is so fustrating!

For some strange reason, your SSL option is enabled.
It shouldn't be. Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account,
Properties, Advanced. Uncheck the SSL option for the outgoing server.
