The following are the messages that I recieve:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'again', Account: 'yahoo
mail', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL):
Yes, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'yahoo mail', Server:
'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket
Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have yahoo mail plus. I have enabled to use POP through yahoo mail plus.
I followed the directions and I haven't been able to send or recieve and
email. I was hoping that someone might could figure out what I have done
incorrectly. Thanks so much.

Your settings look correct to me, so it is a mystery why nothing is working.
There are a few circumstances where the SSL option is not compatible,
so try this: on the Advanced tab of the account properties, unselect SSL,
then change the receiving port to 110, and the sending port to 587.

Are those the correct server names? It seems to be rejecting the sever
name itself. Have you tried mail.yahoo.com or just pop.yahoo.com? Give
that a try and see if that works.

Gary-

I unselected the SSL options on both the POP3 and the SMTP and changed the
ports to 110 and 587 respectively and these are the errors now given:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'again', Account: 'yahoo
mail', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
Yes, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'yahoo mail', Server:
'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket
Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Thanks so much for your help.

You got the port numbers backwards.

You messed up on a couple of things. You swapped the port numbers.
The incoming (POP3) server should be Port 110. The outgoing
(SMTP) server should be Port 587. Also, the error message still shows
that SSL is still enabled, which should have been unselected for both.

How do I change incoming mail from POP to POP3 and outgoing mail from SMPT to
something?

Hal Hostetler [MVP P/I]

'Tools|Accounts|Mail|Properties|Servers tab'. POP and POP3 are the same
animal in this case and what do you want to change SMTP to?

First you need to find out what your server names are........
Then go to Tools - Accounts - (youraccount) - Properties - Servers
